Growing Local offer a range of educational pre-school, primary and secondary school workshops. Our sessions are also available to community and youth groups including Duke of Edinburgh students, brownies, guides, cubs and scouts. Workshops aim to enthuse our visitors about the benefits and pleasures of growing, cooking and eating fresh, seasonal and local fruit and vegetables, helping to transform engagement and understanding of where our food comes from.
We started work creating our new children’s educational garden in October 2023 with groups of youth and adult volunteers. In 2024 we opened to a handful of primary, secondary school and community group visits to volunteer their time to help with construction and start our growing. At the end of 2024 we installed new accessible paths and garden areas. We plan to complete the garden in 2025 with an outdoor kitchen, wheelchair friendly growing beds, a sensory garden and picnic benches.
