Bespoke Gardening, Cookery, Growing or Sustainability Workshops – 2025 onwards

We are able to offer tailored land-based courses for primary or secondary school children. Courses could be a single half day or full day visit or a weekly half-day visit as part of a regular weekly course. Courses are offered with a combination of any of the following activities:

  • Growing vegetables on an allotment or market garden – learning about seasonal food production through sowing, planting, crop-care, harvesting, looking after the soil, composting, rainwater harvesting, encouraging wildlife and creating ecosystems.
  • Cookery in our field kitchen – learning safe knife skills, food hygiene, the importance of eating locally and seasonally and 5-a-day. Groups can prepare together a healthy meal, soup or snack.
  • Conservation activities – learning about biodiversity and the environment that supports farming and food production.
  • Sustainability sessions looking at recycling, food waste, seasonality, local food, climate change and the positive changes we can make for a healthy planet.

Sessions can be tailored to meet curriculum requirements. Enquiries to Kathy Heath, kathy@growinglocal.org.uk, or 07582 719859
