10th November 2017
We’re really proud of our calendar project this year, a fabulous collaboration of children’s ‘Cook Art’ artwork and our favourite Growing Local seasonal recipes. Back in August we ran workshops with children making such tasty delights as homemade pasta (totally from scratch!) and pizzas in our field kitchen. In return children painted, drew, collaged and printed our Growing Local veggies around the garden to produce illustrations for the calendar. I think you’ll agree the artwork they produced is truly magnificent, vibrant, fun and simply fabulous. A huge thank you to all those involved. The workshops were so much fun and we’re hoping to run more next summer.
As for the recipes, we’ve included twelve of our favourite recipes to take you through the seasons. Some are recipes from our field kitchen that we regularly make with visiting schools and community groups, some from our website plus there’s a few new recipes that have been tried and tested at Growing Local HQ. We hope we’ve got everything covered from our indulgent Chocolate & Beetroot Cake and festive Roasted Roots & Gruyere Pie to our delicious Hereford Homity Pie, Gruffalo Crumble Muffins and Rhubarb & Stem Ginger Fool. You’ll find puds, dips, curries, tagines, soups, pasta, hotpots and pies, all family friendly and of course all using our Growing Local seasonal fruits and veggies.
The calendar is currently in production but we’re taking orders for delivery from the end of November. Do email to reserve a copy, info@growinglocal.org.uk. Calendars are priced at £5 each, deliverable with your veg bag or on sale at forthcoming events. Or why not buy together with our 2015 and 2016 Growing Local Cookbooks, each priced at £5. Any three books or calendars for £12.
