Hereford Market Garden City – Stronger Hereford Bid

We are delighted to announce we have recently submitted our Market Garden City proposal as part of the £25 million #StrongerHereford Towns Fund.

The project encompasses our Community Market Garden plans, a new Educational Garden and a Food Education Centre. We are really excited to see how the project progresses in the bid and are currently on the eager look out for land (10 to 15 acres) on the Southern edge of the city. This next few weeks we will be assembling our business plan for the project, which of course will also be essential for crowd funding, community share offers and grant funders to drive the project further should we not be successful with the Stronger Towns bid.

Our outline bid can be read below.

If you haven’t already done so then please do have your say in how you would like to see the potential £25 million Towns Fund spent in Hereford, by completing this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/5CLRCG7

We are looking to hold our next public meeting on Zoom towards the end of November, date as yet to be confirmed.

Winter Family Recipe Box Scheme

We are delighted to announce new funding from the National Emergencies Trust (administered through the Herefordshire Community Foundation) and the Bulmers Benevolent Fund to continue our Family Recipe Box Scheme through the 2020/21 Winter.

Our next phase of twenty families will begin the scheme mid November (all places are now taken), if you would like to refer a family to take part in our next run starting in January then email louisa@growinglocal.org.uk.

Harvest Soup Project

In place of our usual programme of Harvest Cook Workshops at our Court Farm educational garden this Autumn we are offering our vegetables & herbs, soup recipe cards and class instruction sheets out to schools wishing to take part in our Harvest Soup Project. This project is kindly funded by Welsh Water and the Joanies and Becket Bulmer Funds administered by the Herefordshire Community Foundation.
